FMI Program Coordinator

Savannah Baker

Savannah Baker received her Bachelor of Science degree from Loyola University Chicago in Forensic Science. During her undergraduate career, she worked as a Peer Advisor helping first year students transition to college. In 2021, Savannah joined the FMI Program as the forensic chemistry mentor for the summer program. She returned to the program in 2022 as the Program coordinator and has continued in this role since. Her favorite part of the FMI program is seeing both the mentors and high school students develop into confident young scientists.

Savannah is also engaged with the CFSRE’s STEM initiatives, helping teach forensic science lessons in Philadelphia schools, and assisting with field trips to our laboratories. She also works as a graduate assistant, helping with extractions for DUID and oral fluid analysis. Savannah graduated with her Master of Science in Forensic Toxicology from Thomas Jefferson University. Her thesis research was focused on the long-term stability of NPS Benzodiazepines in various matrices and storage conditions. This information can help improve testing in forensic toxicology laboratories when looking for these novel substances.
