Toxicologist I

Alyssa ReyesAlyssa works as a Forensic Toxicologist at the CFSRE, which involves the detection and characterization of novel psychoactive substances (NPS). Her role includes monitoring these NPS through sample-mining and data-mining. She analyzes a variety of biological samples from different clients including clinical collaborators, medical examiners, coroners’ offices, and public health offices to identify NPS, common drugs of abuse, sedatives, or therapeutics. She is well-versed in both drug screening and confirmation techniques of these NPS via LC-QTOF-MS and LC-QQQ-MS.

Additionally, Alyssa continues to develop research projects to be presented for future scientific conferences and assists in training new hire forensic toxicologists and graduate assistants for their respective job duties. Alyssa graduated with her Master of Science in Forensic Toxicology from Thomas Jefferson University in 2022 and her Bachelor of Science in Forensic Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics from York College of Pennsylvania in 2020.
