Welcome to the 2023 Current trends in Forensic Toxicology,

The theme this year is “From Research to Implementation” and we thought it would be a timely and important theme when the scientific foundations of our procedures and expertise are increasingly asked for.

As forensic toxicology providers, we often rely on scientific findings from universities and research organizations, whose main purpose is research. However, it is important that each forensic toxicology provider also engage in research to facilitate implementation and to foster an understanding of scientific method. When only a minor part of your budget goes into research it may also be necessary to apply for external funding. This year’s symposium touches upon these aspects.

During the first day we will learn about funding opportunities from different perspectives whereas the remaining days will take us through different topics and how research has been implemented into the daily work of the forensic toxicologist. Further, we will learn how standardization may help us stay on the scientific pathway when performing analyses and giving testimony. The finale is a look into post mortem metabolomics and the potential use of possibilities to use high resolution mass spectrometric data in the forensic investigations.

In addition to the live speakers, there will be posters, which provide another great opportunity to learn about the latest research in your field, connect with colleagues from around the world, and discover new ideas and perspectives. By visiting the Poster Session, you will not only gain valuable insights into the latest developments, but you will also be supporting the hard work and dedication of our presenters. Their research and ideas deserve to be heard, and your engagement with their posters will help them to share their work with a wider audience. So, I encourage you to take some time to explore the posters during this conference. You never know what you might discover and who you might meet.

We hope that you will join us for an exciting week with lots of opportunities to learn!

Please Help Save Your Seat!

There is no registration fee for this event! If you are able, we are requesting a voluntary donation of $10 USD per attendee that can be made by clicking by clicking the PayPal button below. Why? We pay a fee for every online “seat”. Due to its popularity, we have had to close registration for some of our past events once the number of seats we could afford to purchase were filled. Our goal this year is NOT to shut down registration, but rather to provide a seat for everyone that would like one. A small donation from each attendee would allow this to happen. If you cannot donate, you are still very welcome to attend the event. Thank-you for your kind consideration and we hope you enjoy this year’s program.
